Southwold-based Adnams has opened its latest retail store - in the home town of its larger rival Greene King.

The new Cellar & Kitchen shop, at 43A Cornhill in Bury St Edmunds, brings Adnams’ network of stores to a total of 12 and is the second to include a café alongside its established retail range of beers, spirits, wines and kitchenware.

Neil Griffin, head of retail at Adnams, said: “Bury St Edmunds was a natural choice for us when we set about opening a new store in the west of the county.

“We’re really excited to be here and it is an area we have earmarked for a long time. Located in the heart of the bustling market town, there is a great array of independent shops, as well as high street chains, nearby.”

Emma Hibbert, marketing director at Adnams, added: “Bury St Edmunds is a fantastic location for our latest Adnams store and we are looking forward to a busy festive season.”

The team at the new store is led by manager Tom Crittenden, previously manager at the nearby Waterstones bookshop, and assistant manager Tom Legge, previously tasting room manager at the Marianne Estate and sales manager at the Warwick Estate, both in South Africa.
