Around 70 box scheme and other customers took up an organic farmer’s invitation to lunch on the Dengie Peninsula as the summer vegetable season drew to a close.
Sarah Green, of Sarah Green’s Organics, Mark Farm, Tillingham, hosted lunch in her barn and conducted a guided walk around her vegetable fields. The guests, mostly local box scheme members or online customers, and representatives of three community groups in London who buy vegetables from Sarah, enjoyed an informal meal of English cheeses, locally made bread, and salads made with homegrown vegetables followed by homemade cakes.
Sarah and father, Steven, gave them a tour of the farm, which delivers to the Dengie Peninsula and the Maldon area, with drop off points for customers from further afield.
