Eco-friendly staff at a Suffolk firm have been doing their bit for the environment.
Newton Commercial in Leiston recently held its first “green week” with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of employees by either cycling, walking or car sharing to work.
A competition was also held to encourage teams to come up with energy saving initiatives, while staff were encouraged to wear green-themed fancy dress on the Friday.
The company also signed up for the Suffolk cycle challenge, with 20% of staff logging numerous rides, while more than 50% either walked or pedalled to work. Employees also created a car pool for various towns and shared lifts.
Newton Commercial achieved the Suffolk Carbon Charter award in 2011 for its green credentials. Established for more than 36 years it has more than 50 craftsmen and women making interior trim for British classic cars.
