FREIGHT operating and processing software specialist Fargo Systems is moving into the car transport market, with Freemans Autologistics among its first clients in the sector.

Freemans has implemented a version of Fargo’s TOPS transport management system which includes tailored features for the vehicle transport sector.

Fleet management and cost monitoring and analysis play a significant part in the TOPS automation process and the fleet management module has given Freemans the ability to manage their modern fleet of transporters; schedule service / MOT appointments and driver licences and capture all fleet costs, including fuel and payroll.

Alice Hustwait, transport manager at Freemans Autologistics, said: The TOPS suite of tools allows us to plan much further in advance and the fact that we can produce full revenue and cost analysis, direct from the operating platform, means we are in even greater control of the business.”

Steve Collins, general manager of Fargo Systems, which is based at East Bergholt, added: “Our TOPS software is ideal for the car transporter sector as it provides businesses with the ability to manage all transport elements using one system whilst optimising profits and ensuring logistics are running as efficiently as possible.”

Fargo specialises in developing software systems for companies in the shipping and transport industries. Formed in 2002, the company is the UK market leader specialising in the container haulage industry, thanks to its original TOPS software, which manages three million container moves each year.
