A SUFFOLK printing company has announced the first stage of a new 4million investment programme which it says will revolutionise its production process.

Ancient House Press, based on the Hadleigh Road Industrial Estate, in Ipswich,is to install a state-of-the-art Technique MIS (Management Information System) to provide “an integrated and seamless approach” to its operation.

The Technique MIS unit, which represents an initial investment of 250,000, will enable jobs to be tracked from first enquiry through to final delivery with electronic data capture and monitoring throughout.

Besides being of benefit to customers, through the availability of up-to-date communication at all stages of their project, Ancient House Press will also be able to obtain key data on such areas as paper wastage and downtime, so enabling changes to be made to internal procedures and resulting in more streamlined processes.

Allison Berry, joint managing director, at Ancient House Press – a family-run business which has been established for more than 160 years and employs 105 people – said: “This marks the start of an ongoing multi-million pound investment programme which will ensure that we continue to not only meet customer expectations but surpass them.

“This integrated MIS will deliver a streamlined approach which will underpin our entire production process, making it more efficient, minimising paper wastage and downtime and automating all processes to reduce the number of ‘touch points’.

“Technique is one of the few MIS suppliers able to provide the complete package in terms of managing our plant, from estimating to scheduling and then through the production process. The company also has a strategic alliance with key machine manufacturers which facilitates a seamless exchange of information,” she added.
