LOWESTOFT-based SLP Engineering has been awarded a deal with gas supplier Centrica to upgrade one of its a North Sea Gas platform.
Under the terms of the frame agreement, SLP will carry out all the design, engineering and procurement work needed to complete the upgrade. The news come less than a month after SLP secured a multi-million pound deal with offshore giant Nexen Petroleum to build an accommodation module to house 140 workers in the North Sea.
Work on the Centrica upgrade will start immediately with the refurbishment expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Paul Thomson, SLP managing director, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this agreement and to be working with Centrica. We have previously completed engineering assessments and upgrades for the Chiswick Platform since it was designed and built by SLP in 2006.
“This contract is a welcome addition to SLP’s order book and will provide continuity for the existing team and create more local jobs over the next 12 months. It’s all good news and we are chuffed to bit and it’s completed the year on a very positive note.”
