A company based in a Suffolk town for more than 50 years has gone into liquidation, leaving 25 people needing to find new jobs.

Stowmarket Caravans, based in Bury Road, Stowmarket last week gave notice under the Insolvency Act of a meeting of creditors, to be held tomorrow.

According to an announcement in the London Gazette, the meeting related to Sections 99, 100 and 101 of the Act, which cover the appointment of a liquidator.

The directors of the company, identified by Companies House as Paul Simon Garrod and David Cedric Garrod, have nominated Andrew Dix of LB Insolvency Solutions, part of the LB Group, as liquidator.

The company was incorporated in 1954 and in recent years has been selling both new and used caravans and motorhomes.

Mr Garrod said he felt “very proud” to have been part of the mid Suffolk town for such a long time.

He also said 25 people had been made redundant.

He added: “Thank you very much for the business and support over the years.”

Mid Suffolk District councillor for the nearby Onehouse ward, John Matthissen, said he hoped all of those who had lost their jobs find employment as soon as possible.
