AN award-winning accountancy software company based on the Suffolk-Essex border has been shortlisted for another title.

AN accountancy software company based on the Suffolk-Essex border has been shortlisted for the Technology Firm of the Year title in the Real Business/CBI FDs' Excellence Awards 2009.

Access Accounting, from Stratford St Mary, is nominated alongside well-known names such as Microsoft, SAP, HP and Sage.

The category is new to the awards this year, with customers being asked to nominate technology companies whose products and services had made the most positive impact on business performance, including cost savings, increased productivity and efficiencies.

Access was highly commended in the Financial Software Provider of the Year category of the same awards last year. The winners of this year's awards will be announced on Wednesday, May 13 at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square.

John Beech, managing director for Access Accounting, said: “I'm delighted we've been shortlisted, especially under this broader category which is open to all technology companies.

“This is a great encouragement to our dedicated team who work tirelessly to help simplify business processes for customers each and every day.”

Access Accounting's recognition in the FD's Excellence Awards was one of a string of accolades received by the firm during 2008.

It was also received the Accountancy Age award for the “Best mid-tier software package” and - for the second year running - the SIFT Media Software Satisfaction Award for best mid-range software.

Access was also highly commended in the Green Business Awards for “Best new product” and saw its third consecutive year of achievement in the Construction Computing Awards.
