A Leiston bakery is celebrating after clinching a contract to supply the Sudbury branch of Waitrose with a range of handmade breads.

Following a successful year supplying the nearby Saxmundham branch of Waitrose, Reads Bakery has won a second contract with the store.

Reads, which employs 30 and has been making bread since 1920, prides itself on making handmade, craft breads using family recipes passed down from previous generations.

Owner Gary Seaman said: “Twenty years ago local businesses were really feeling the pinch as large supermarkets dominated the market place but I’m so pleased to see chain supermarkets such as Waitrose welcoming partnerships with local businesses to help support small suppliers.”
