A sale of a collection of vintage and domestic bygones amassed by late Suffolk farmer Eric Barker attracted a large gathering from across the county last week.

The Barker Collection went under the hammer at the family farm at Westhorpe on Saturday, June 17.

Top of the 500 lots were: a Howard Platypus 30 4cylinder diesel Crawler Tractor (£7,500), a Fordson Standard N 4cylinder petrol/paraffin Tractor (£7,000) and a Cornish & Lloyds horse drawn four wheel wooden livestock transporter on wooden wheels (£3.200). Cheffins auctioneer William King said: “The Barker Collection is one of the most comprehensive assortments of rural and domestic bygones that have come to the market and we were honoured to have auctioneered this collection on behalf of the family. The sale was well attended and the collection, although now dispersed, will be preserved for future generations.”
