Pubs and brewing group Greene King has signed a deal with Essex Cricket which will see Greene King IPA served at the county ground’s bars for the next two years.

Bury St Edmunds-based Greene King is also working with the Essex club to improve the “hospitality experience” at the Chelmsford ground, including investment in bar equipment to increase the speed and efficiency of service.

Joe Parks, on trade sales director for Greene King Brewing and Brands, said: “We share a genuine commitment to top class sport and excellent hospitality, making Greene King a natural partner for Essex Cricket.

“Our flagship ale, Greene King IPA, is the official beer of England cricket, so we are delighted to be bringing this great beer to the members and supporters of Essex County Cricket Club, which will be served from the improved bar facilities that we have invested in throughout the ground.

“We look forward to continuing to build a great relationship with the club and its fans over the coming seasons.”

Derek Bowden, chief executive at Essex Cricket, said; “We’re delighted that Greene King has come on board. Following feedback from members and various stakeholders, there will be a great choice of market leading brands for our members and supporters in 2016.

“We particularly like the fact that Greene King is investing to improve the speed of service around the Essex County Ground. This is an important feature for our members and supporters and will mean they do not waste time in long queues.”
