Enterprise agency Nwes ran a social media masterclass at South Suffolk Business Centre in Sudbury, in collaboration with digital marketing agency Sky Blue Toffee, followed by fish and chips for the attendees and tenants.

Leiston Enterprise Centre invited local businesses and tenants to join them for pizza, supplied by Pete’s Pizza, and ice cream, and Riverside Business Centre in Lowestoft held a successful family fun day and barbecue.

The Nwes celebrations closed with a specially-chartered cruise down the River Orwell on historic sailing barge Victor.

Guests of the sold-out event were able to watch the sunset over the Orwell Bridge with the team from Nwes’ Suffolk Enterprise Centre, based at Felaw Maltings in Ipswich.

The day, inspired by a similar event in Yorkshire, was supported by BBC Radio Suffolk, Suffolk County Council and the East Anglian Daily Times and included more than 30 events across the county celebrating Suffolk as a great place to live, play and work.

Nwes Suffolk area manager Linsey Cullen said: “Nwes were thrilled to be part of the very first Suffolk Day. The enterprise agency started in Suffolk in 1982 and we now support entrepreneurs and businesses across the county and far beyond.

“The day has given us the opportunity to showcase the many Suffolk businesses we have supported and house in our centres, and to invite our suppliers, clients and tenants to celebrate everything Suffolk; from the locally-sourced food to the renewable energy revolution.”

Nwes’ Suffolk Day events also invited donations to support East Anglia-based Paralympic swimmer, Jessica-Jane Applegate, to whom the enterprise agency has pledged support to help her reach Tokyo 2020.

n Ipswich Building Society’s Suffolk Day cycling team, Ellie Camp, Ashley Burton and Nigel Nicholls completed a 100 mile charity ride, during which they visited all of the Society’s branches across Suffolk, to celebrate Suffolk Day.

The team, which raised funds for 100 nursing hours at St Elizabeth Hospice, reached their £1,250 target, which the society is match-funding with an additional £1,250.
