The Colchester-based team of Essex law firm Birkett Long is on the move.

After 28 years in Crouch Street, the firm’s 100-strong team in the town has out-grown the offices and is to relocate to Amphora Place, in Sheepen Road.

The new three-storey building, which is being leased from Colchester Borough Council, is named after a Roman wine vessel, remains of several of which were found on the site in the early stages of the build.

Adrian Livesley, managing partner at Birkett Long, which also has offices in Chelmsford and Basildon, said: “We’re delighted to be moving to such high profile, high-quality accommodation while remaining in the heart of Colchester. We have space to continue to expand, provide the highest quality service to our clients and a much-improved working environment for our staff.”

The move is due to take place next month, with fitting-out currently in progress.

Birkett Long says the move will enable it to further exploit the latest technology, upgrading its videoconferencing facilities to allow clients to join conference calls regardless of what type of device or connection they are using.

The new building, built by local firm Rose Builders, incorporates green technology including solar roof panels to generate most of the building’s electrical power.
