SUFFOLK County Council is due to unveil a new growth strategy tomorrow.

The council has been working with partners in the district and borough councils over the past few months to develop plans to deliver economic growth, jobs and increased prosperity to the county.

The Suffolk Growth Strategy and Invest in Suffolk campaign are due to be launched at the Apex in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow morning.

Councillor Judy Terry, cabinet member for economic development, and council leader Mark Bee will officially launch the strategy and supporting materials including a prospectus entitled ‘Suffolk the bright choice for your business’.

An Invest in Suffolk film will be shown, and the county’s new inward investment service unveiled, along with an official website.

The event is set to look at the work that has been going on, hear directly from businesses about their experiences of working in Suffolk and hear from the keynote speaker Anthony Hilton, senior commentator at The Independent and Standard newspapers.

It will be chaired by Mark Pendlington, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) board member and group director of Anglian Water

Following a welcome by John Griffiths, leader of St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Mr Bee will talk about growth and invstment.

Justin Bowser, company director with HTK Horizon will talk about doing business in Suffolk.

There will be a question-and-answer session before a panel.

Mrs Terry said: “The quality of life for everyone working and living in Suffolk is affected by the economic growth in the county.

“Our county is home to some of the fastest growing industries that will drive the UK economy, backed by pioneering technology and far-sighted investment that puts them ahead of the rest.

“Our ambition is to create even more high value jobs across the county and ensure Suffolk is home to businesses that play a prime role in driving the sustainable growth of the UK economy.”
