Debenham-based cider maker Aspall is set to reintroduce its Mulled Cyder to selected outlets for the festive season.

It follows two award wins this year for the product - a gold medal from the British Bottlers’ Institute and silver from the International Cider Challenge.

Having pioneered mulled cyder in the UK in 2007, Aspall said there had been “significant growth” for the product with the volume rise in 2011 double that of 2010 and record sales forecast for 2012. Among those stocking it at outlets are Fuller’s, Peach Pub Company, Mitchells and Butlers and Greene King.

Des Smith, Aspall managing director, said: “Last year the enormous popularity of Aspall Mulled Cyder outstripped the previous year, and with increased distribution within the premium on-trade this year, we anticipate record sales of the product this winter. The trend for pairing Aspall Mulled Cyder with hearty winter food can only further build upon this growth.”

Elton Mouna, Fuller’s marketing manager, said: “Fuller’s is very much looking forward to offering its customers a piping hot premium seasonal cyder during the cold winter months. The theatre of the serve and the lure of the aroma from the wintery spices provide the je ne sais quoi every pub should have.”
