Staff, customers and suppliers at East Anglian building supplies company Kent Blaxill will be embarking on a 175-mile charity bike ride next week in one of the events being staged to celebrate the firm’s 175th anniversary.
The “KB 175 Tour de Branch” will see more than 50 cyclists, riding in teams of 14, take part in a relay involving visits to each of the company’s eight branches.
Money raised will go to the CLIC Sargent charity, which supported a young Kent Blaxill employee who sadly died recently of cancer. “It is a charity close to the hearts of a lot of people at the company after the fantastic support it provided,” said managing director Simon Blaxill.
Riders will leave Braintree at 6am on Thursday, September 12, travelling on to branches at Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Melton, Ipswich and Kirby Cross before taking on the last leg back to the Colchester branch by 7.30pm.
Cyclists will include director Simon Blaxill and his son Josh, board member Ben Kent and staff from the company’s main branches in Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds.
Kent Blaxill customers providing teams include Horizon Construction, Rose Builders, Yates Developments and TJ Evers while suppliers taking part include main sponsor Crown Trade, Stoneham Kitchens, Expamet, Ibstock, Rixonway, Global Stone, All About Bricks, XL Joinery and Tembe DIY.
