The East of England Co-operative Society has marked the 90th anniversary of its funeral services.
The Ipswich Co-op conducted its first funeral in the town in 1925 and now, following a number of mergers over the years, the regional society has more than 50 funerals sites in Suffolk, Norfolk and north Essex.
Colleagues in Ipswich gathered to mark the anniversary, with those present including Ivan Fordham who has worked for the Co-op for more than 50 years.
He said: “I first started work at the Co-op in 1963. Since then lots of things have changed, but I’m proud to have been a part of helping people when they’ve lost someone.”
The East of England Co-op, a member of the EADT/EDP Top 100 listing of the 100 largest businesses in Suffolk and Norfolk, also operates food, travel, pharmacy and opticians stores across Suffolk, Norfolk and north Essex.
