Essex Chambers of Coommerce has hosted a “Skills Summit” for employers to highlight and discuss some of the key issues they face in recruiting and training apprentices and young people generally.

Among those attending the event, which was held at the DP World London Gateway port and logistics park, were Priti Patel, MP for Witham, and Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow.

Denise Rossiter, chief executive of Essex Chambers of Commerce, said: “This morning’s meeting was an excellent example of how Essex Chambers of Commerce can bring the business community and senior Parliamentarians together to consider issues facing employers and trainers on a day-to-day basis.”

She added: “It was an extremely stimulating discussion and there was a real passion in the room to work together in the future to ensure we can help create the skilled workforce for the future, that Essex needs.”
