An Essex business body has its first female chair.
The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Christine Bhatt, chief executive officer of data processing firm Systematics International, chair of its IoD Essex branch.
“Christine has extraordinary technology and business expertise, and we are delighted that she is going to be leading IoD Essex for the next three years,” said East of England IoD chairman David Sales.
Ms Bhatt led a management buyout of Systematics International, based at Battlesbridge, Wickford, in 2007 and since then the firm has grown threefold after tendering for new contracts against large companies such as Microsoft to secure new business in the USA.
Ms Bhatt said the IoD was respected for encouraging women into leadership roles. “It is important for all directors to guide their organisations through the turbulent times that we as a business community face,” she added.
