AN East Anglian businesswoman is flying high after scooping an accolade at this year's Enterprising Women Awards.

Karen Finch, managing director of The Hearing Care Centre Ltd, an independent hearing care business based in Ipswich, took the High Flyer title at the event, which was held at Abington Hall in Cambridge.

The awards, which recognise business excellence across a range of categories, including Young Entrepreneurs, Inspirational Business Mums and High Flyers, are sponsored by Business Link East and Venture Navigator and supported by the East of England Development Agency (EEDA).

Ms Finch, who was runner-up in the East Anglian Daily Times' Anglian Business Awards 2008 in the Entrepreneur of the Year category last month, also took the runner-up spot in the overall Enterprising Woman 2008 award.

“This is the first time we have been associated with these awards and I am thrilled to bits that we have won,” said Ms Finch, who was one of 150 businesswomen gathered for the conference and awards.

“I know the awards are about giving recognition to individuals, but I would not be where I am today without my superb team members and their amazing hard work.”
