Farmers are ‘fitties’, a new survey suggests.

The industry topped the table in a survey carried out by AXA PPP healthcare which founds ranked agriculture the physically fittest sector, exercising for 2 hours 44 minutes a day while estate agents were least active at 42 minutes.

The ‘FIT-SE’ Index included commuting and during-work hours exercise.

Despite having office-based jobs, IT workers exercised for an impressive 1 hour 58 minutes, earning them second place in the list. The poll of 2,000 UK employees across 18 UK industries was commissioned by AXA PPP healthcare’s ‘Flying Start’ campaign – an initiative encouraging firms to push back the start of the working day by one hour on National Fitness Day, Wednesday, September 26, to let staff to get active. “There are still clear differences across industry sectors when it comes to putting in time for keeping active, said AXA’s Chris Horlick.
