A CORPORATE day with a difference is about to become available at Braxted Park, near Witham, with the launch of a Segway personal transporter experience centre.

The hi-tech Segway personal transporter (PT), which has only two wheels but is self-balancing, is being used as the basis for a range of activities including a time trial, relay race, giant egg and spoon race, football and polo, together with guided tours of the Braxted Park Estate.

Segway at Braxted Park is being marketed for corporate or team building days and hen or stag parties, as well as a general fun experience for family groups or friends.

“After trying a Segway PT for myself I was hooked, and wanted to share the experience with as many people as possible,” said Duncan Clark, owner and manager of the Braxted Park Estate.

“The estate is in a stunning location and our range of Segway PT experiences can make your day as relaxing or as exciting as you like.”

The Segway PT was first unveiled in 2001 but came to wider prominence last year when it was seen on TVs around the world being used by officials at the Beijing Olympics. It has a top speed of 12mph and is easy to manoeuvre, although all participants at Braxted Park must undergo safety training and sign a disclaimer.

There are also some weight and age restrictions, and a strict no alcohol rule both before and during the activity.

Segway at Braxted Park is based at the Braxted Park Golf Club and launches on Monday, July 13. For details, visit www.braxtedparksegway.co.uk .
