RECYCLING and resource management company SITA UK has signed up the first local company to support the development of its planned energy-from-waste (EfW) facility at Great Blakenham, near Ipswich.
The Ipswich office of MLM Consulting Engineers has been appointed “CDM coordinator” for the three year development project, a Health & Safety role to oversee compliance with the Construction Design and Management Regulations.
Cliff Matthews, EfW regional manager at SITA UK, said: “We are delighted to announce this contract with MLM. They will have a key role in the development of the energy-from-waste facility and we are pleased that a local company is on board.
As the development progressed there would be further opportunities for local companies to get involved, said Mr Matthews.
An open day for potential suppliers held in Stowmarket earlier this year, at which MLM was among the local firms represented, had revealed high interest the project, he added.
