IPSWICH is to get a John Lewis and Waitrose after the borough gave permission for a pioneering new store on the site of the former Crane factory.
The new store will be built opposite the Sandlings Retail Park, off Ransome Way.
The borough’s planning and development committee overwhelmingly gave approval for the proposal, the only vote against came from Phil Smart who was concerned about the impact on the town centre.
Work on the site is expected to start next year.
