TOOL and equipment hire chain Speedy Survey has celebrated the opening of a new £250,000 depot in Bury St Edmunds, manned by a five-strong team.

The 4,800sq ft centre at Bunting Road, Morton Hall industrial estate, which has created five jobs, will provide specialist survey, safety and communications equipment to builders, contractors and customers in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Speedy Survey is part of Speedy Hire.

The depot is designed to meet increasing demand for construction equipment following heaving investment in the surrounding area, including Ipswich Waterfront and Cambridge Science Park, and is the 21st Speedy Survey depot in the UK.

James Barber, manager of the new depot said: “This central East Anglian location will enable us to service the whole region within a 90 minute delivery time, ensuring we can service both existing and new customers faster.”

Keith Ferguson, managing director of Speedy Survey said: “We chose Bury St Edmunds as the next addition to our network to enable us to better service the needs of our East Anglia customers from a central location and to add to the wide range of hire equipment already available from other Speedy divisions in the area.”
