JAMES Gaston of Whiting & Partners Wealth Management in Bury St Edmunds has passed his final exams to become a Chartered Financial Planner, the premier title for financial advice professionals.

He joins the upper echelon of the personal finance sector where just over 1,500 members of the Personal Finance Society hold the title.

Mr Gaston, 33, who is married with two children and lives in Bury St Edmunds, said he was delighted with his achievement.

“It's been a long road, involving evening and weekend self-study over a number of years but it's been well worth the effort,” he added.

“As a firm we're proud of our progressive, forward-thinking approach to investing. Unlike many others in the sector we do not depend on income from commission and feel we have an edge through our independence and transparency.”

His areas of specialist expertise - corporate and individual pensions and investments - will strengthen the practice's approach in East Anglia, particularly the Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall areas.
