Lewis Tillbrook, 18, has qualified as a painter and decorator following a two-year apprenticeship with East Anglian housebuilder Bennett Homes.

He worked alongside one of the Nowton-based company's most experienced employees Philip Clarke who himself qualified in the trade with Bennett Homes 42 years ago.

As well as benefiting from Mr Clarke's guiding hand, Lewis attended training days at The College of West Anglia in Wisbech and has achieved an NVQ Level 2 in painting and decorating.

“Lewis has become a very enthusiastic member of the team,” said Mr Clarke. “He's keen to listen and learn and I have no doubt that he'll make a fine craftsman.”

Managing director Edward Parker added: “We recognise that with age comes wisdom and we have a long tradition of training and turning out high-quality craftsmen.

“There is so much experience that professionals like Philip can pass on to our young recruits. That is essential in ensuring our properties continue to be traditionally built by the most able craftsmen and that we always offer customers the highest quality homes.”
