REGIONAL train operator One is launching a new range of advance purchase fares on its mainline route between Norwich and London, with prices for some single journeys starting as low as £5.

The simplified structure for advance fares - due to come into effect from June 11, with bookings being accepted from June 3 - will replace the current range of advance purchase ticket types, such as Leisure Advance, Apex and London Day Out

There will be four price levels for Advance Purchase single fares for both First and Standard Class travel with passengers having the option to “mix and match” to get the best value for their journey. With single fares starting from as low as £5, a return journey to London can be made for as little as £10, depending on seat availability and time of travel.

An innovative feature of the new fares structure will also allow passengers the choice of purchasing a ticket for First Class travel in one direction and Standard Class in the other. Subject to availability, all Advance Purchase tickets may be purchased up to 6pm the day prior to travel, with early booking widening the choice.

Advance Purchase fares from Ipswich will be £5 for Level 1, £10 for Level 2, £17 for Level 3 and £20 for Level 4 (all prices for single journeys). The equivalent fares from Colchester will be £5, £7, £12 and £15 respectively.

For journeys in Levels 1 & 2, accompanied child fares will be set at £2.50 per child per single journey and for Levels 3 & 4, a 50% discount will apply for child fares. National Railcard holder discounts will also apply.

Martin Dean, One's sales and marketing director, said: “The launch of our new range of tickets offers customers using our popular mainline services greater flexibility and excellent value for money.

“We know that rail passengers want greater choice in terms of seat availability and flexibility as well as more opportunity to travel in First Class at more competitive rates. This package is designed to meet those aspirations and to increase the attractiveness of rail travel with One”.
