Essex financial advisers Fiducia Wealth Management has appointed a new managing director.
The Dedham-based firm has promoted Gordon Kearney to the role following John Millican’s decision to step down and become executive chairman.
John, who has been MD since Fiducia was formed in 2005, decided it was the right time to pass the principal executive responsibility to the younger generation.
Gordon, 39, a director who has been with Fiducia since its inception, said: “I have learned so much working alongside John and I feel very proud and privileged to take over from him as managing director.
“We are a very ambitious, dynamic and growing company that has worked hard to create an empathetic and understanding environment which places our clients at the heart of everything we do.
“We have a great team, one that we are always adding to with those who share our principals and ethos. My goal is to build on all the good work John has done so that we can look forward to the future with confidence.”
John said he believed the firm would go from strength to strength under Gordon’s leadership.
“We are all very proud of the reputation Fiducia has built over the past 13 years,” he said. “We have planned a smooth transition, one based on evolution rather than revolution.
He had “thoroughly enjoyed” managing the firm, but would remain to offer advice, he said.
Estate agents Fenn Wright has promoted three members of staff to branch managers.
Peter Ruddy (Kesgrave branch), Kirsty King (Colchester) and Natasha Everett (Woodbridge branch) have all been promoted from within the firm,
Managing partner Alan Williams said they were “immensely proud” of the team as it expanded in Suffolk with the opening of a Woodbridge branch.
“Promoting three excellent members of staff who have continued to meet and exceed customer expectations is yet another reason to celebrate.

This news follows a period of great excitement at the Essex and Suffolk-based estate agents and chartered surveyors. So far in 2018 Fenn Wright has celebrated its major milestone of 250 years in business, and has also announced the acquisition of Neals Estate Agents, with the subsequent opening of a new branch in Woodbridge.
Earl Soham-based coffee business Paddy & Scott’s has welcomed two new recruits.
Jon Reed, brand director, and John Clement, operations director, bring a wealth of international business knowledge and decades of experience.
Chief executive Scott Russell said: “Selling in a global marketplace requires an excellent business structure with strategies for achieving success.”
The firm’s “passionate and inspirational” staff were central to the firm’s success, he said.
Colchester-based digital marketing consultancy Climbing Trees has appointed David Eve as account director.
David has more than 20 years’ experience in sales and marketing most recently directing search engine optimisation (SEO), pay per click (PPC) and social media campaigns.
Managing director Alex Holliman said they were “delighted” to welcome him. “David will be helping us explore new markets, maintaining our high levels of client retention.”
Kerry Addison, a director at East Anglian law firm Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP), has become a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association.
Kerry, a solicitor in the Colchester office, is one of just 15 professionals nationwide awarded the honour in 2018 after passing the Fellowship exams.
Agriculture & Estates team leader, Stephen Firmin, also a Fellow, congratulated Kerry.
“I know, from personal experience, how challenging these exams are,” he said.
East of England law firm Ellisons has appointed Guy Longhurst as managing partner, supported by a board comprising representation from four different areas of the business.
Seamus Clifford will be head of business services, Tim Logan, previously managing partner, becomes senior partner and head of private client services. John Turner, previously the firm’s chief information officer, is now chief operating officer.
