A NEWMARKET-BASED sausage maker is hoping to get the seal of approval from slimmers after launching a reduced fat version to its range.

Musk’s Reduced Fat sausage is made from prime outdoor reared pork shoulder meat stripped of its visible fat, and only contains the naturally occurring fat within the meat, its makers say.

The filler is made from brown bread and the end product is 11 times higher in fibre than the original Musk sausages, the company says. It retains the same secret blend of spices to provide the unique flavour for which the sausages are renowned.

The sausages are initially available at Grange Farm, Hasketon, near Woodbridge, and the company believes they will be suitable for slimmers seeking a low-fat alternative to ordinary sausages.
