STEVE Chapman has joined East Anglian agricultural merchants CROPCO, bringing over 35 years sales and agronomy experience to strengthen the existing team.

He is a former regional director at Willmot Pertwee and more recently key accounts manager for Cropcare (which became Agrovista). He returns to the region after pursuing his other passion, extreme sports, on the south coast.

In his new role he will work with farmers across the region, supporting CROPCO's full range of products and services including seeds, fertilisers, crop protection and the Agricycle farm waste recycling operations.

He is a former Writtle Agricultural College student, is BASIS registered and has extensive in-house and manufacturer technical training in agronomy and agrochemicals.

“I am delighted to be working with such a vibrant and go ahead team and I'm looking forward to renewing contact with many farmer friends across the region,” he said.

CROPCO Managing Director John Poulton said: “CROPCO is still a relatively young company but our base at Belchamp Walter, near Sudbury, is already highly successful and Steve is a most welcome addition to our growing business. I am confident our customers will value his experience and expertise.”

In addition to enjoying extreme sports such as windsurfing and kayaking, Steve has a strong interest in agricultural history and country crafts. He is currently a director of Deakin Conservation and is involved with restoring wheelwrights and blacksmiths.
