A Suffolk farmer will be taking part in a national agricultural showcase aimed at celebrating agricultural organisations and farmers who are striving to improve crop yields

AHDB Strategic farmer Brian Barker of Westhorpe, near Stowmarket, is among the guest speakers at agricultural and environmental consultants ADAS’s fifth Yield Enhancement Network (YEN) awards event and conference on November 16 in Newark. He will be talking about soil and roots.

Tim Isaac, head of knowledge transfer at farm levy payers’ group AHDB, will chair the event, which will look at the work of the UK’s most innovative farmers who are breaking new ground in yield enhancement practices. The conference will review the cereal and oilseed YEN results for 2017, and announce this year’s cereal and oilseed YEN awards winners, with awards for overall yields, innovation and proportion of yield potential.
