A tenant is being sought for the latest new landmark building planned for Princes Street in Ipswich.

Ipswich Borough Council has appointed Savills as agent for a high-specification 40,000sq ft office development at 88 Princes Street,

The site, currently a motor garage, lies opposite the former Rileys snooker hall which is currently being demolished to make way for a new headquarters for regional law firm Birketts.

Also nearby are the offices of pensions company Suffolk Life, the newly-refurbished former Fisons House, now known as Connexions 159, and Portman House, which is to become the new base in Ipswich for media company Archant, whose titles include the EADT.

The site at 88 Princes Street has Enterprise Zone status, offering a saving on business rates for the next five years.

Chris Moody from the Ipswich office of Savills said: “The building could appeal to an expanding Ipswich business, a regional firm seeking consolidation or, ultimately, a London City firm seeking a cost effective decentralisation.”
