STAFF at the Grange Hotel at Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, are celebrating its first AA rosette.
The coveted restaurant award, based on an independent inspection, comes about a year after the arrival as head chef Darren Marchant, who has extensive experience both in restaurants and on board cruise ships and now heads a four-strong team in the kitchen.
Director Vipul Khurana described the menu as “modern British” fine dining and said the whole team was delighted at the award of a rosette from the AA.
The Grange is a three-star country house-style hotel with 18 ensuite bedrooms and two restaurant areas with space for up to 80 covers.
It is based on a mock-Tudor house which was built in 1895 as a private residence but was sold just four years later to become a gentlemen’s club and has been operated as a hotel for more than 40 years.
