WILKN & Sons has formally applied for planning permission to build a new jam factory and more than 200 new homes.
The move follows a ruling by an independent inspector who said the development are “sound.”
Four applications have been submitted to Colchester Borough Council which include a new factory, 244 homes, a treatment plant and recreation space.
Wilkin & Sons say the development could result in dozens more jobs and will secure the company’s future in the village.
