Outgoing National Farmers’ Union president Peter Kendall hit out Common Agricultural Policy reform at this week’s Oxford Farming Conference.
He described the deal as “a huge missed opportunity to correct the mistakes of 2003” and make CAP more common, and farming more productive, globally competitive and more market-oriented.
He criticised the introduction of “populist” elements such as greening and capping, and said it was “a profoundly wrong direction”.
