More than 2,000 jobs are being created by a leading retail store and a budget hotel group, mainly in temporary roles in the run-up to Christmas.
John Lewis said it will hire more than 2,000 temporary staff in its stores across the country, in a variety of different departments, while Travelodge is taking on 150 new employees.
John Lewis said jobs will be on offer at 24 sites, including its flagship warehouse in Milton Keynes.
Laura Whyte, personnel director at the retail giant, said: “Christmas is an extremely important and busy time of the year for the business and it is essential that we have a strong and committed workforce in place early.”
Travelodge said 110 of its new jobs will be created through the opening of five new hotels before the end of the year.
The firm said it was also looking to hire 20 hotel managers.
