Former TV weatherman Jim Bacon will be guest speaker at an annual series of Farm Business Updates in January and February.

Mr Bacon, boss of weather service Weatherquest, will be discussing issues around climate change and what it could mean for farmers and growers in the region and how Weatherquest’s data is being used in research projects designed to develop crops that are more resilient to weather extremes.

The events aim to inform farmers and land managers of developments in farming best practice, regulatory change, and new grant opportunities and include presentations from the Campaign for the Farmed Environment (CFE) and Catchment Sensitive Farming (CSF), Environment Agency (EA), Farming Advice Service (FAS) and Rural Payments Agency (RPA).

Meetings include January 24 at Writtle College and February 22 at Lavenham Village Hall. To book a place call 01638 590429.
