The Bury St Edmunds-based St Nicholas Hospice Care is calling on green fingered horticulturalists to open up their glorious blooming gardens in a bid to boost funds for the charity.

The charity needs people who would be willing to join the many villages and towns already showcasing their blooms to raise funds.

Hospice community fundraiser Miranda McCoy said: “We are very lucky to have a varied open gardens programme that showcases a wealth of different gardens but we know there are lots of unseen gems yet to be discovered.

“We would love for our events to continue to grow and are keen to welcome even more gardens to join us.

“You might be part of a community of gardeners or someone who is willing to go it alone and show-off your efforts and help us raise the funds we need to continue providing our services across the area - if you think you could help it would be great to hear from you.”

Everyone who agrees to open their garden to raise funds will receive an informative tool kit, letting them know how the charity is able to support their efforts, plus a mention in the hospice’s garden events magazine and website.

The toolkit will include advice on the production of advertising materials, collection tins, balloons as well as help on the day and further fundraising ideas.
