Police received 40% more 999 calls than average on one of the busiest nights of the year for emergency services in Suffolk.
The constabulary dealt with 355 emergency calls in its control room over 24 hours, compared to an average day’s volume of 252.
The larger than average volume accounted for a period between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
From 10pm on New Year’s Eve to 7am on New Year’s Day, 50 calls required urgent ‘Grade A’ responses.
Police said most of the offences dealt with overnight related to public order or domestic disturbance.
A total of 30 people were taken into custody across the county.
Meanwhile, in Norfolk, from 10pm on Sunday night to 7am on Monday, police received 225 emergency 999 calls as thousands celebrated the start of 2018 across the county.
A further 230 non-emergency 101 calls were made during the same period.
