IT'S not what visitors would normally expect to see in Colchester's Castle Park.
But the appearance of camels in Hollytrees meadow certainly proved popular yesterday, with many people taking the chance of a free ride.
Far from a regular new attraction, the camel caper in Colchester turned out to be a PR stunt by budget airline easyJet, which was promoting its new direct route from Stansted to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
Sophie Dekkers, UK commercial manager, said: “We're thrilled to be launching this new route from Stansted and what better way to celebrate than with one of Fuerteventura's most popular tourist activities.
“Fuerteventura is an ideal destination for winter sun. As well as the fantastic weather and camel trekking, it has over 50km of white, golden beaches and is famous for its diving and watersports.”
