A grieving son is trying to trace members of his late mother’s family, and thinks the people of Ipswich may be able to help.
John Brown, 39, of Glasgow, is asking anyone who may be related to Sheila Agnes Catherine Campbell, born on April 14, 1950, to get in touch.
“My mum was born in Edinburgh and moved all around the country.”
“The Ipswich link is my great uncle Vernon,” explained John. “My mum got married about 23 years ago and he came up to Scotland from Ipswich with my aunt Cathy for the wedding. That was the first and last time I saw them.”
At the time of the wedding, Vernon, full name Robert Vernon Ballantyne, was living at 99 Darwin Road, Ipswich. However records show the house was sold in 2001 and John has been unable to trace his long-lost relatives.
“My mum passed away at the end of February,” he said. “I want to find her family because I am not sure how many of them know.”
He continued: “I am a family man, I have four kids of my own and another on the way, and I want them to know my mother’s family.
“I would love to hear from anyone who is related to my uncle Vernon, or my uncles Johnny, Billy and Ross.”
After his mum’s death, John found family photos and birth certificates for relatives Jacqueline Ann Campbell, born in 1966 and Peter Fletcher Campbell, born in June 1967. He has never met either.
“I want to see if they (the photos) jog memories. I’m just looking for names to go with the photo album and if possible to get to know my mum’s family as they are all I have left of her.”
