Denham Priory in Denham has been the family home for Yvonne and the late Kingsley Curtis for 52 years.

It was rebuilt and remodelled in the 1960s, just before they moved in, but parts date back to the 14th Century.

The property has six bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool and a games room which were added by the couple as their family grew.

They also built a specially designed garage complex which was used to house Mr Curtis’s extensive car collection.

The garages are fitted with dehumidifiers and the workshop comes complete with a car ramp.

At one time his collection included 15 motor cars, a carriage, a Victorian horse drawn hearse and a steam engine – some of which was sold last year by Bonhams auction house at Goodwood racing track.

Mrs Kingsley said: “We were both passionate about cars and Kingsley bought our first classic car together, a 1923 Bean, in Twickenham which I still own.

“We bought some cars privately, a few at auction and many by word of mouth, and in all conditions.

“His classic car of choice was a 1923 Bentley which came out for weddings, but it was very important to maintain near perfect storage conditions in the garages.”

James Bedfords, from estate agents Bedfords, said: “There are almost 12 acres of wildflower meadows.

“The garage complex looks traditional from the outside and has been designed with the idea that it could be converted to a stable block.

“These factors make the property ideal for any house hunter looking for an equestrian property.”

Denham Priory, Denham is on the market with Bedfords at a guide price of £1.385m.
