FIRE crews battled a van ablaze in the middle of one of the town’s most popular parks this evening.
Firefighters from Princes Street were called out to the van on fire in Chantry Park at 7.10pm, and found the vehicle well alight in the middle of the park.
But getting to the van was difficult because of the boggy conditions of the field and crews were forced to gain access via Milden Road using an extended hosereel.
They managed to get the flames under control by 7.45pm.
