FIREFIGHTERS have freed an elderly couple from their vehicle following an accident in the car park of Asda in Chelmer Village, Chelmsford.

A spokesman for Essex Police said the elderly couple were in a Ford Focus, which had been in reverse, which was involved in a collision with a parked Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian - a man in his 50s.

He said minor injuries were sustained in the accident which happened at about 1pm.

Two fire engines from Chelmsford and one from Great Baddow attended.

Crews freed the man and woman from the Ford Focus using specialist cutting equipment and rendered first aid to the pedestrian.

The ambulance service also attended.
