A MAN from east London is due to appear in court later this month after being charged with offences following a disturbance in Chelmsford.

Police had initially been contacted shortly after 3am on Sunday, August 12 following reports that a man had been struck with a broken bottle on Moulsham Street.

Officers arrived, but could not find any victim. However, they did arrest a 20-year-old man from Bow in east London and subsequently charged him with one count of affray and one count of being in possession of an offensive weapon – namely two broken bottles.

He was released on police bail until his appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 29.
