Burglars smashed a glass pane to break in to a shop in Debenham before stealing a large number of cigarettes, police believe.

Detectives are appealing for information after the raid, which is believed to have happened at a shop in Chancery Lane on Sunday.

Officers believe the shop was targeted by the suspects at some point between 2am and 2.20am.

The offenders, who are said to have run away from the scene in a vehicle, smashed the front door before stealing items from inside.

A police spokesman said: “Offenders stole a large quantity of cigarettes before making off from the scene in a vehicle.

“Police would be interested in hearing from anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the Chancery Lane area at the time of the offence.”

• Anyone with information relating to the raid, and anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour should call Dc Andrew Thawley at Lowestoft CID on 101.

Callers should quote crime reference number 37/58358/17 – alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
