A man in his 20s is in hospital with multiple injuries following a crash on an Essex road.

The two-car collision happened in the early hours of this morning in Little Clacton Road, Clacton-on-Sea.

Firefighters from Brightlingsea and Clacton were called to the scene at 1.15am. They used cutting equipment to free the injured man from the wreckage.

Doctor Zoe Smeed and paramedic Ollie Robinson, from emergency medical charity Magpas Helimedix, arrived at 1.28am in a rapid response car. They gave the patient pain relief before he was taken by ambulance to Colchester General Hospital, where he arrived in a stable condition.
