A CYCLIST has been assaulted on a roadside in Clacton.

The attack happened when the driver of a grey new-shaped Vauxhall Astra got out of the car near to Ladbrokes on Old Road shortly after 6pm on Wedesday, April 17 and punched the cyclist in the chest before driving off.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

Investigating Officer, Pc Keith Rowland, said: “This attack happened just after the evening rush hour on Old Road near to its junctions with Rosemary Road West and Anchor Road.

“During the incident, the cyclist was chased around the car which would have caught the attention of passers-by. We would like them to contact us as key witnesses. At this stage, we’re not sure what sparked this incident.”

The cyclist, a 24-year-old local man, did not require any medical treatment.
