A MAN is due to appear in court on Monday having been charged with assault following a stabbing in Clacton.
A 50-year-old man from the seaside resort was assaulted inside Wahoo nightclub shortly before 12:30am on Saturday, June 23. He was taken to Colchester General Hospital by paramedics after sustaining a stab wound to the back. He is now recovering at home.
Wayne Chapman has now been charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 40-year-old unemployed man from Jackson Road in the town has been detained in police custody prior to his appearance at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Monday.
A second man, who was also arrested in connection with the assault, was subsequently released without charge. A knife was recovered by police.
